The European Commission is also interested in the growth of the Małaszewicze Terminal on the Eastern border of the EU, therefore Terespol and Małaszewicze were visited by Ms Catheriene Trautmann, North-Sea Baltic TEN-T Corridor Coordinator. The meeting held on 23 May this year was attended by representatives of the Polish government – Mr Andrzej Bittel, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Infrastructure, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Investment and Economic Development. Ms Catheriene Trautmann visited Polish projects financed under the Connecting Europe Facility: “Works on the Siedlce – Terespol section of E20 railway line, Stage III – LCS Terespol” (the construction site at Terespol station) and ”Modernisation of the Railway Infrastructure at the Małaszewicze Terminal Area of Corridor 8 of Freight Lines at the EU – Belarus Border Crossing” – design studies” (the signal box in Kobylany and the headquarters of CARGOTOR).
CARGATROR’s project “Modernisation of the Railway Infrastructure at the Małaszewicze Terminal Area of Corridor 8 of Freight Lines at the EU – Belarus Border Crossing” – design studies” is expected to improve the quality of infrastructure and to upgrade the status of Małaszewicze as an element of the Asia-Europe cargo turnover. When correlated with the projects planned by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A, the throughput capacity of Małeszewicze Terminal should record a significant growth.
